The New Topyli Standard: "This article is a humble opinion piece of a GNOME user who wishes to stop using communication software and just be in touch with people. I want to write mail to, chat with, talk to, and have video conferences with real people without worrying about applications and technology."

The ISO community will hold a vote for OOXML around Feb 29th 2008 in Geneva. These are the folks that set industry standards for nearly everything from how CDs are made to the equipment used to harvest grain. On that faithful day they will be voting whether OOXML should become a standard in the PC world for XML or not.

Basically what Microsoft is trying to do here is FORCE everyone to use their Crapware just like how they forced Windows users to use IE and integrated it to the OS so it would be necessary. Remember all those anti-trust lawsuits?

Microsoft's fascist tactics never seem to amaze me. With the speed that the Patriot Act was passed Microsoft is not releasing much information about the OOXML framework and many counties expressed concern that they did not have proper time to review the proposal. I dont know about you but this smells like they are taking lessons from George Bush's advisors and trying to force people to do their bidding with mislabeled chads. But what should really concern everyone is what they would do to the computing world if this was accepted? Would we be subject to more Crapware or would this signal the demise of Mr Forsty?

I simply don't buy into it – either it will not pass or it will and if it does – Yes I am sure they will try to force people to use their Crapware but the question remains – Who would care? Would anyone even buy into it? Would you program for it? I doubt it. But nonetheless it sickens me that they feel they have to approach a ISO vote with such underhand tactics. Why would they do that? If they truly had the next big thing they would not be trying to cover it up like this. They dont even support their own standard as of today. And why is that? Because they know its crap and they know it would be another channel in which they could infect PCs around the world.
