The New Topyli Standard: "This article is a humble opinion piece of a GNOME user who wishes to stop using communication software and just be in touch with people. I want to write mail to, chat with, talk to, and have video conferences with real people without worrying about applications and technology."

Winblows GoneEveryday we witness more and more Windows causalities of war. Countries and government organizations are swiftly falling one by one to Socialist Software. That's right folks, Linux is on the March again! Why is Windows being dealt such harsh blows? Why don't people trust Microsoft? Well it's simple really – Windows and Microsoft make the least secure software on the planet. Do you really think any agency that needed to be secured would be using Windows? If so, you have a lot to learn my friend. To see the spread of Socialist Software in all of its Open Source Goodness we need but look in the mirror to see our our government is surcoming to the Linux craze. Have you ever thought of where SE Linux comes from? Well, it was developed with help from our own NSA (National Security Agency). They are by far America's most secretive organization, consuming nearly 75% of the clandestine budget. Now, you would never catch these good people using Windows Vista – if they did, America runs a chance of being compromised. http://www.nsa.gov/selinux/

The Linux revolution has firmly taken root in the minds of government and for those who want a choice,  a wise choice. Don't believe me? Take a look at this user list:

The Library of Congress
The NSA
The FBI
The CIA
NASA
The Census Bureau
The Department of Energy
America's Military
The Untied States Postal Service
China
France
Portugal
Sweden
Switzerland
Germany
New Zealand
Japan
Spain
South Africa
Soon Most of Africa
Brazil
Venezuela
Scotland
Australia
Denmark
Nigeria
And it seems more and more State governments
And just about every web server in the world...

Now is there any doubt at all in any of your minds that Linux is not the next big thing? How can anyone doubt that Linux has already taken over? Our most secure and most important systems are now built on Linux. In fact, considering the information Linux systems are now protecting, I can go so far to say Linux clusters are saving American lives due to the sensitive nature of the information it safeguards. You can't say that for Windows or Microsoft. What have they done to protect us? NOTHING. Oh right they made Windows defender... (cough)... Moving on.

Sorry Windows, you have already lost this battle. There is no way to reverse this, and no amount of incentives that Microsoft can offer to convince people and governments that they will be safe will keep people running Windows. Let's be honest here for a moment. Would you trust America's nuclear technologies to be run on Windows? What happens when it bluescreens? Yeah! You get my point, don't you?

One by one, the governments and people of the world will fall to the new order of Linux and Open Source Software. Every time this happens, it will put a smile on my face, as I watch Microsoft crumble before my very eyes. I will revel in the thought of seeing the Linux user counts increase every month.

Dude...get a grip. It's an OS. That is all. It won't end wars or world hunger. It's a collection of bits.

You, sir, need a reality check.

Sure it will
I'm pretty confident Linux is going to save the world. Look at it this way, if you spend less money on overpriced software, then you can afford to give more to your community; schools will be better equipped to provide education; hospitals will be better able to provide health care. It's cyclical. Linux is on the path to saving the world order. You just wait and see, Uncle Bob.

world sees the real deal
I watched "The Pirates of Silicon Valley" movie on cd and was struck by two things. The young Mr. Gates insisted that computer hobbyist protect their ideas from theft and his ability to get close enough to do just that. No wonder whole nations shudder at the thought of using his products, there are strings attached that turn into chains. I consoled myself by watching "The Linux Story" on You Tube. Then I watched "Revolution OS" and "The Free Software Movement". I am glad we don't have to have a contract with Mr. Gates in order to compute.

Australia?
Rubbish. I'm an Australian, I'm also in IT in Australia. I'd like to know where all this Linux is being used in Australia.
