We're noticing that more and more people are checking out linuxhow2.com that don't use one of the top seven distros we mentioned. Tell us what you use, if it's one of the others!!! We're really interested!

I use Puppy Linux on a PC I bought in 2002. It used to run Windows XP; it was so slow that I was about to toss it out, when I heard about Puppy Linux. Now, it runs like a well oiled machine! woo hoo

I run PCLinuxOS Gnome Remaster on my desktop (looks great, runs beautifully, and easy to maintain), BLAG Linux 7000 (Sugarwater) on my laptop (uses free software only, and I can do pretty much everything I need and play all my media files on it), and Debian Etch on my spare box I've setup for mum to use, as she needs something stable and rock-solid, and also has plenty of stuff to play with. I'm pretty happy with all of them.

I'm actually right in the middle of downloading the gnome version for PCLinuxOS. It looks really good in the screenshots; I'm hoping to have better luck than I did with an earlier version of PCLOS back in mid 2007.

I've been running it pretty much since the first remaster was done, and while it had a few niggly bugs at the time, it's much improved now, and has always been excellent on my hardware. I have an Athlon 2800+ with 2GIG of RAM, and an nVidia Geforce FX graphics card. Not exactly cutting edge, but then I'm not a position to upgrade at present. Besides, it does what I want it to.

Overall, I've been very impressed with this Remaster, is very nice to use, and just "feels right". The support forum for the Gnome Remaster is located here: http://linuxgator.org/forums/index.php , just for those wondering.

This is the friendliest and easist to use and setup distro I've run in quite a while, and I've tried a few. I did like PCLOS, but preferred Gnome, and the "official" gnome in the repos just doesn't look or feel quite right, you still have to go thru several _layer_s of menu to find what you want, whereas with this it's all within easy reach.
