My rating of this game

5 ouf of 5 star

This is one of my all time favorite games! Yes this game is a few years old now and new ETQW does blow ET  out of the water graphic wise however that does not mean good old regular ET cant compete. ET is only playable online with other live plays. Classic Enemy Territory takes place here on earth in the 1940s on the European battle field mostly on the German front - some mods are based on the Russian front. You get to choose what side you would like to play either the Allies or the Axis. Both sides have different but yet similar weapons and whimsical voice chats and vsays as well.

There are extensive mods, weapons, and maps that the users of classic ET have made. Believe me this makes all the difference and makes it pay far more fun than any other game I have played. It's so good in my opinion that this is the only game I have played since 2004 other than ETQW naturally. The community supports the game so well and continuously there are new maps with new objectives for your team to accomplish and the game is free!

The game has four main class choices for you: Medic, Engineer, Field Op, or Covert Op. Each of these classes are set to perform a different objective when in live game play.

Medics

ET Medics come standard with health packs and a reviving needle to heal and bring team mates back from their near dead condition. One drawback to the medic class is those people who abuse their healing power and chicken out of a firefight to heal themselves around a corner before jumping out to finish you off (after they have regained full health). I tend to kick those kinds of players off the server ;).

Engineers

The Engineer is my favorite class; they can use rifle grenades! The rifle grenades are a very powerful low rate fire weapon; if done right and if you aim correctly, you can kill around corners and kill off whole groups of the enemy. Great fun indeed!  The prime objective of the engineer is to either defend an objective with land mines, his rifle nades, or a shotgun; or he may be sent out into the field to destroy enemy objectives with dynamite. This is the class that wins or loses the game. Its' everyones job to make sure the engineer has what he needs (health and ammo wise), or the team is done for.

Field Ops

This is a fun class to play, since you can do massive amounts of damage by calling in air strikes and artillery blasts onto enemy locations. Your job as a Field Op is to mess up the battle field as much as you can in order to cause confusion and kill as many enemy as possible. You are also responsible for keeping your team stocked full of ammo.

Covert Ops

The James Bond of the game: these guys carry silenced pistols, silenced stens, sniper rifles, and depending on what mod you are playing, a host of other lethal weapons including the famous MP34. They can disperse smoke to cover your team or allow you to sneak in behind them and cut the throats of each of the enemies from behind which is a one hit kill. They may also set low yield explosives designed to confuse the invaders and disrupt their communications. Also my favorite feature – stealing the clothes of a slain enemy! Now that's where the fun begins!

With this many combinations, Classic ET is a win in my book and despite being a few years old it is still a great game, great graphics, and an awesome support community which has made countless maps and missions including developing new mods! Honestly I don't have anything bad to say about this game and for a truly free game, it's the best I have seen.
