  • Mono 2.0 lets .Net apps Run on Linux 6 Oct 2008 | 12:03 pm

InfoWorld: "Considered a major upgrade, the open source Mono 2.0 runtime leverages Microsoft's .Net Framework 2.0 programming model. With Mono, developers can build desktop and server applications using Microsoft-based environments and deploy them across multiple platforms, including Windows. Novell is leading the Mono effort."

Adobe LinuxAll of us here at Linuxhow2 would like to open up a formal petition that will be delivered by certified mail to Adobe. If you would like to read the petition to Adobe please click more and say your peace.

Dear Adobe,

We at Linuxhow2.com are calling upon Adobe and all the upper level executives to make a move on Linux and to start porting all of your programs to the Linux platform so that Linux users can purchase a working copy of current Adobe software. This would benefit thousands and thousands of Linux users, who are still dual booting with Windows, so they can use popular titles such as Dreamweaver. As more and more people each month are switching to Linux and more and more PCs and notebooks are being sold with Linux, now would be the time for you to give what your customers want: a native Linux installation. It is already 2008, and all we have gotten from Adobe are scraps and poorly done Flash plugins. We demand it is time to address all the Linux users globally who would love to use and purchase Adobe products natively in Linux and 64-bit distros.

This letter should also serve to be a reminder of your own self preservation, which like Microsoft is at risk if you do not diversify your platform offerings. With the increased disappointment over Windows Vista, people worldwide are switching to Linux.

Respectively Yours,

The Undersigned

Please leave your name, Location or Country, and what Adobe application(s) you wish were ported to the Linux operating system. We will consolidate, print, and mail via certified mail this petition to Adobe June 6th 2008. Sign the petition by leaving this information in the comments below.

What Linux needs is a decent video editor. The only reason I need Windows is Premiere. I've already replaced my graphics applications with native Linux apps, because they were available. It didn't have to be that way.
