Adobe LinuxAll of us here at Linuxhow2 would like to open up a formal petition that will be delivered by certified mail to Adobe. If you would like to read the petition to Adobe please click more and say your peace.

Dear Adobe,

We at Linuxhow2.com are calling upon Adobe and all the upper level executives to make a move on Linux and to start porting all of your programs to the Linux platform so that Linux users can purchase a working copy of current Adobe software. This would benefit thousands and thousands of Linux users, who are still dual booting with Windows, so they can use popular titles such as Dreamweaver. As more and more people each month are switching to Linux and more and more PCs and notebooks are being sold with Linux, now would be the time for you to give what your customers want: a native Linux installation. It is already 2008, and all we have gotten from Adobe are scraps and poorly done Flash plugins. We demand it is time to address all the Linux users globally who would love to use and purchase Adobe products natively in Linux and 64-bit distros.

This letter should also serve to be a reminder of your own self preservation, which like Microsoft is at risk if you do not diversify your platform offerings. With the increased disappointment over Windows Vista, people worldwide are switching to Linux.

Respectively Yours,

The Undersigned

I couldnt agree more
I have always enjoyed finding and using superior software. That's why i've always been a long time customer of Adobe products. When it comes to operating systems i also made a similarly principled choice - Linux.

Now i am forced to maintain Windows just to use Adobe's fantastic product. It's like watching TV on a million dollar home theater system in a 1 bedroom apartment.

Let's go adobe! Hire those programmers and move with the times!

I have been a huge supporter of Adobe products since Illustrator 88 and Photoshop 1.0 ! (Man I'm old) I supported the PDF debacle since day one, hoping that someday we would really have a unified format for both press and screen.

Now, I'm a Linux advocate and supporting thin client hardware is a large part of what I do. I cannot pretend that Adobe doesn't exist, but I have to encourage customers to attempt to find alternate technologies until Adobe releases some real products for Linux. This, IMHO, is a damn shame.

In the thin client realm, it's not possible, per Adobe's EULA, to have the Flash player pre-installed. Not to mention, even if we WERE allowed to pre-install it, the player is not up to par with it's OS-X and Windows counterparts.

Adobe has the opportunity to allow Flash and PDF to become the ubiquitous web content delivery mechanisms, and, I believe they are really screwing it up by not including the Linux crowd.

FREE THE PRODUCTS! :) Or at least give us working products for our platform of choice.
